Special Needs classes for 4yrs olds to 70+years olds
Our goal is to provide opportunities for all ages and levels of play, from those who come to exercise/socialize, through those who want to learn skills and play lightly competitive games, to those who may aspire to play on a Special Olympics team.
For our first season our youth programs will be split between chldren 4-8 years old and choldren 9-14 years old. (15+ years old will be considered Adult.
HOWEVER, with Special Needs classes age categories will be flexible and include consideration of participants being placed in a higher age group based on their physical, mental and emotional development. ( no indivdual participants will be permitted to participate with a younger age group
Adjustmemts will only be made with the approval of parent/guardian with the final decision at the discretion of RSC Westchester.
We anticipate that there may be considerable variation of participation levels in the first season, and we iuse a volunteer network to assist during class.
At RSC, we always encourage independent learning in all our classes and hope our classes will be so welcoming and so comfortable that parent/guardians can simply enjoy the time relaxing as spectators, but we do understand there will be times when parens will want/need to be on the field with their child.
The adult program will be for ages 15+. We wll use the first class to determine which level is most appropriate for each participant. For our first season, there will be two categories:-
A. Soccer introduction.
This will be for those who may wish to simply exercise and/or socialize. These classes will have a focus on movement/fitness and team bonding, along with learning some soccer skills
B. Soccer skills.
This will be for those who want to learn sklls, and participate in lightly competitive soccer games. he focus will be on skill development and learning HOW to play the game.
Special Olympics:-
For those who may wish to participate on a Special Olympic soccer team, we will be offering an additional session over the summer in preparation for competing locally and regionally in the Fall, with the potential for participating in the NY State games in October.
